In my heart, you are my uncle. Through you and the stories you told, was the first inspirations for me to begin my reconnection journey as a Native person. I'm sorry it took me so long to get here to thank you - not only for the beautiful movies you helped to create, but the memories I have as a child, a native child seeing another native performer on stage. Thank you for it all, August. <3

Such a privilege to be sending you this message. I’ve noticed you in several movies over the years and always thought you added a depth to your characters that could not be measured in simple terms. Decided to look further into your life’s history and found this page in the process.
After watching the movie Dreamkeepers and seeing some of my other favorite actors who have depicted native people over the years. I really enjoyed watching and the stories seemed I had heard versions of one or two before.
Praying you found your way to the Father and hope to be seeing you there with my son, who left this world too soon.
