Comments: So sad to hear that Mr. Schellenburg has passed. I loved his performances in the Free Willy movies, he always had that friendly and wise face. Never got a chance to meet him, but will try to see his other tv and movie performances when I can. May he rest in peace, maybe his spirit will run into my late hubby's, who passed away 3 months ago today. My hubby was supposed to be part Lakota or Souix, never did find out for sure. Maybe both of them can talk about all those interesting Native American traditions, I don't know.
All I know is you will be missed. RIP.
Thank you!

Comments: I worked with August briefly some 30 years ago on a CBC Radio adaptation of "The Diviners" by Margaret Laurence. He played Jules (Skinner) Tonnerre. He took the time to both encourage and offer tips to an otherwise nervous novice. I was truly grateful for this.
He now joins Chief Dan George and Tantoo Cardinal in the pantheon of actors that offered an authentic aboriginal voice for the nation. His proud vision, commanding voice and chiseled visage will be sorely missed...but..will remain with us forever in his work.
RIP

Comments: I had the chance to meet August when he received the Gascon-Thomas prize from the National Theatre School and when he came in Mtl for the celebration of our 50th anniversary. Great presence and genuine interest in people. We will miss him.
